Hey guys, I was chatting with a mate the other day about my project, and he was convinced that I'd not be able to get my car through the IVA
because it has a custom designed chassis (IE not based around any previous design such as the locost is). Is he correct? Or is he just spouting bovine
excrement as he is renowned for?
Sorry if this questions been asked before, but I have little time to research atm due to impending exams and couldn't find anything in the IVA
handbook
He's talking bollocks, don't worry about it.
ETA: How on earth would any of the people on here with their own design cars have them on the road?

As far as the welding of the chassis is ok and meets all IVA requirements you don't need to worry.
IVA assumes that your chassis is unique, hence why you must have an IVA if you drastically alter the chassis of a production car.
If it looks weak, or uses an 'uncommon' method of construction* they may query it and could ask you for an engineers report.
But a steel spaceframe design, in 1inch tube or better, that doesn't have big areas missing triangulation should be fine.
* grp or aluminium monocoques mainly
Any well built chassis will pass IVA
Bloody hell that's a relief! Cheers lads, that could really have spoilt my week!
