Just trying to get my head round wiring my fog light and just as I think I've got it licked the new IVA manual comes out and changes it? There's now a diagram on page 201 of THE MANUAL which is a bit tricky to read but basically the fog light can only be on when the dipped beam is on (as far as I can make out) regardless of what the switch is doing so I can take a feed off the dip. I think in the old manual it also had to be on if main was on and dip off??
As I understand it, it should only work on headlights, not sidelights
Main and Dip. Unless they have changed it within the last couple of months.
I think the difference is that it used to say must operate with dip and then a seperate sentence to say must operate with main which I felt could be
interpreted as main on and dip off (although why you would do that I'm not sure).
So before I had it so that if main was on and dip was off it would still come on?
Now it has a table showing the conditions which must lead to it being off/on an din all those dip is on when fog is on so that should be ok. I think
from lookign at the notes they've just done that to make it clear as it could be misunderstood previously (as I did)

Just had another look at the diagram
(Agree it's a pain to read)
But it looks to me that it can work on
Side, Dip, and Main..
The rear foglamp has to work when main or dip is on, but not when you only have sidelamps on, that is how its changed, just had IVA & tester checked this specifically. Dennis.
surely its the same as any modern car,
only on with headlamps be it dip or main.
its been like that since rear fog lamps became mandatory and before that for fronts.

They seem to have confused matters nicely with the new tables!
Rear fogs fitted (no fronts) - must only operate when main and/or dipped beam are on.
Front and rear fogs fitted (not many kit cars, I'd guess!) - rears must operate with side-lights, but only if the fronts are selected on, and a
number of other wierd and wonderful combinations...
(goes outside to check the front/rear fog logic on the tip-top.... )
