Had my retest with a different examiner today, really nice guy. He was happy with the minor adjustment I had made to the steering and the letter from
Rally Design. I'd sorted out the light positions and radius issues and the emissions were OK.
I got my MOT yesterday so now I've just got to get an appointment with Maidstone VRO and I'll be on the road.

Well done. Great feeling isnt it.
Even better when you stick the plates on
What happened about the rack position cobblers?
Has the guy joined the foreign legion!!!
When I first pulled up the original tester came over and said that the guy who was supposed to do my retest was off and I nearly cryed. But then he
walked off and came back with the very nice bloke who did the retest. I really still didn't expect him to pass it as the car was misfiring and
cutting out all the way there and yesterday I had a terrible time at the MOT station trying to set up the emissions. I think late yesterday/early this
morning were my lowest moments when building the car. Today everything is perfect.

Well done Steve,
Whats involved in setting up the lambda system from ST?
Ian rang me yesterday, they found the lost one in Dartmouth. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow but my SVA is Monday, so aint gonna have time to
get to a garage to set up...

Well it took me 5 hours to fit it but that included making a new exhaust mounting and finding a way to cover the non radiused edges on the lamda
sensor. As far as setting it up I don't think I ever really got it right! I couldn't get a steady fast idle for more than a minute and the
air valves seemed to make the car a pig to drive. If I had of failed today I think I would have been looking for some help to set it up properly. Once
it's all fitted the only thing you can adjust is the pilot screws anyway so maybe it will work better on your engine. I found the following site
had some useful setting up info:

Good luck Monday

Just as an aside, as this registration malarkey still confuses me!! You have an appointment with the VRO, is this to get a reg no? Presumably they have already issued a VIN so you could get through SVA?
There was no need for an appointment at Sheffield VRO. You just go along with your MAC, receipts, and money and hand them over the counter. It took them 2 days to send me a reg number and road tax through post and the log book was a couple of weeks later from Swansea. You could have your vin number allocated as soon as you have a chassis.
Yes, I sent them my V55 form and a few receipts and a note saying I needed a chassis number. They then sent a letter with my number, which I stamped
onto the car, and details of what paperwork was required for registration. This was MOT,MAC,insurance cover note and some money. I phoned today, made
an appointment for monday and if all is well they will inspect the car and do the paperwork. I'm not sure if I get my tax and reg then or if it
is sent later.
However, this is only how Maidstone VRO work they all follow there own rules so phone/visit the one you will use and make sure of their precedures.
Steve
.....and the letter from Rally Design
Any chance you could scan it and put it in your photo archive?
Might be needing it soon
I will do that but it does refer to them supplying ST with the hoses so I guess you could say you got them from ST.
Steve
Letter now in archive. Its quite big but I don't know how well it will print out.
