Cockpit sides

I suppose for IVA I should put some girly padding on the top struts either side of the cockpit ( where the elbows go )

What do people use ? Can I buy U-shaped foam an inch and a fraction wide ?

Why? all you need is 2.5mm radius on the edges, not padding.

Most people use something from a coachbuilding supplier like the stuff on this page: http://www.hartwood-elite.co.uk/c/horsebox-aluminium-mouldings.html

I suspect that the top strut edges with the glassfibre turnover would be less than 2.5 mm rad.

Thanks for that. I suppose the edges have to be blunted both inside and out ?
Which is why I was thinking of U-shape rubber

Look for "hockey stick" moulding.

I used foam section from a new worktop used to protect in transit. Nice and firm and protects arms from bruises.Coverd it with vinyl and glued down looks good.
