That's right, within 5" of the steering wheel you're ok, otherwise it will need to meet the standard rules, 3.2mm radius on contactable edges

it'd go between the tunnel top and bottom of the dash.....

I think the hinge edges can be a problem if they're contactable with the tool/ball thing.
