I need to set/lock the bias for the IVA test, the book says:

"Bias bars and other mechanical adjusting devices fitted to twin master cylinders must be rendered inoperable by mechanical means
e.g. lockwiring of components."

My plan is to lock wire the adjuster, so that it can't be turned, ie by using lock wire to tie the handle to something immovable. This would be my preference as it doesnt mean drilling through any load bearing bit of metal, and is the easiest to get to.

Has anybody used lock wire on the bias bar and got away with it yet?

Nothing to "get away with", it's in the book, that's good enough for me

could someone explain to me what exactly does lockwiring the bias bar entail? i've never heard the term and i'mk a bit confused...

i thought lockwiring was simply drill a hole in the bolt, pass some wire through it and then just bend it over and around the bolt...

i googled "lock wiring" and it took me to an airplane website which shows a dozen bolts lock wired together... that only added to my confusion

I would phone the tester at the station you will be using. When talking to the tester at Notingham he said as long as it could not be adjusted with out tools it would be fine. And said Nyloc nuts would be fine on there own.
