Had My IVA Test Today......
couch22k - 30/9/10 at 05:40 PM

and I PASSED

Arrived at Nottingham test centre for my 8:30 slot. Martin the tester came out and just cracked on. Top bloke and very helpfull.

As he went through he made notes of a few things that needed a little attention.

Forgot to earth the fuel tank.
Front top ball joints needed covering differently.
Fog Light needed a bit more angle.
Back wheels needed pulling in a bit more to get them under the arch.

While I went out to the car to get sum tools ect., Martin got his adjustable out and by the time i got back the wheels had been sorted. He then took the wire I had and sorted the fuel tank out while I did the fog light, and finaly with a bit of rubber and super glue the ball joint was done

Cant say enough good things about Nottingham test centre and Martin.

With my test certificated in hand I stopped of at the DVLA office in Sheffield who after a bit of waiting sorted out the registration and I left with a tax disc and reg number.

All in all not a bad day.

Just need a number plate making and ill be ready for this glorious weather

Thanks to everyone on here who helped, especially Dunk3 who at the last minute lent me his Sierra steering wheel and let me look over his car which helped with a few trim bits i'd missed.

Of out tonight to celebrate with an all you can eat Chinese.

Steve

Good result, and seems you have found a tester who wants to put cars on the road, and not x in box's

Nottingham centre and Sheffield DVLA are two of the best to deal with.
Did Sheffield DVLA want to do an inspection?

coozer - 1/10/10 at 12:53 PM

Congrats, sounds very similar to my experience which made me smile no end. Bet your grinning like a cheshire cat, as they say!

Fantastic, can't believe the tester actually helped you put things right as well - how long did it take you from start to IVA?

I hope mine is as easy going - I am going to chadderton (oldham) for mine I think - and soon

Well done, Steve and be careful because you know how easy it is for bits to fall off after the test

Yes they just checked the engine number and chassis number, took him all of 30 seconds.

Iva test took just over 90 minutes, the next hour was putting the last few things right.

Already have a pile of bits that have fallen off. Fell of alot faster than they took to put on

Sorry, Steve I meant how long did it take you to build the car?

Bought it a year ago as a rolling chassis, and finished it in about 13 months.

Just waiting for sum nice weather, managed to get an hour in it yesterday.

Well worth the hard work and money.

Nice one!

Sounds a bit like me - bought mine two years ago (6th oct) as an 'unstarted' kit, took me until 17 oct '09 to get it to rolling chassis, now doing the last few jobs before IVA (boot / mirrors / bias bar) then applying! EEK

Well done and congrats.

Will you be having a drive out to Ackworth on Wed 13th, for the Yorkshire meet, if it's still on, weather permitting?

I could do with having another look at some pinto engined cars. I just seem to be doing a lot of head scratching and staring at the mo, not getting very far, quickly
