A local guy with a RH has just got a £60 fixed penalty for having an undersized front plate and so has a CKC staff member, apparently PC Plod is having a blitz, something to do with number plate recognition
Do you happen to know if they were the tiny ones or just undersized?
Just plod being bored me thinks considering how many police forces they have......
They are about to lay off a few of the buggers so the rest will be so busy number plates will be the last thing on thier mind.
I got tugged in the north of england for the german plates on my golf.
I just spoke to him in Dutch so he told me that the plates have to be changed to english ones.
I told him we were leaving the country in a few hours so he let us on our way....and we went up to scotland
No plate legislation enforcement used to be put down to the cameras, your observation re the anpr systems is exactly correct.
i dont like all these fixed anpr cameras that are popping up, they can track your every movement which im sure is a breach of some kind of right or
other.
i havent got an issue with the ones on police cars as they cant track your movements without following you.
my friend found an iphone on a bench a few weeks back she was due to go on holiday the same day so left it at home on the side and planned to hand it
in at the local police station when she got back.
when she got home there was a letter from the local police asking her to visit the local police station regarding an iphone. she went down the
station to find out she had been spotted by local cctv 'stealing' an iphone and was arrested charged with theft, she now has a court date
etc etc.
so a nice law abiding mum with no criminal record who would never even contemplate stealing will now have a criminal record if found guilty.
this whole bloody country has gone mad.

No sympathy, driving a kit car with number plates that are not to spec are like putting up a sign saying please stop me.
Cars have ony been required to have number plates for a bit over 100 years so he couldn't exactly claim ignorance of the law.

I never really saw the attraction of small plates. I've got standard ones and they look fine to me.
Quite topical this. I have on my winter mod list to get a smaller plate for the front. The stock plate is just to big to look good. I just want the plate about 10mm smaller all round. It will look alot better and I am one for detail. however I am not one for risking a fine. At least they dont slap points on aswell I suppose.
I'm pretty sure that ANPR cameras can happily read motorcycle reg plate font size. I suspect that this is just an excuse.
I carry my 'bulldozer' plate in the back of the car, just in case. It's potentially quite vulnerable to speed-bumps and the like, so
would rather not run it, unless BiB tell me they have a specific issue. Fortunately, thus far they seem to have had other priorities...
... touch wood...
Then they should book all the motorcyclists! They shouldn't be able to get away with half the number of plates just because they have half the
number of wheels!
Why should they be exempt from the law that every other road user has to abide by? That is blatant discrimination.
It makes them exempt from (front facing) speed traps too!
