Do all the switches have to be illuminated on the dashboard and do they have to be lit when on or at all times?

The answers depend on the switches. Certainly light switches will need something to show whether the light switched is on or off (instrument lights can be used to show sidelights are on). I'm pretty much sure the switches themselves do not need to be illuminated as such.

Careful reading of the IVA manual will help, but can be a head-banging task.
