Fuel pipe and IVA
alexg1965 - 28/1/11 at 05:23 PM

For those of you who have been through the IVA test, what evidence if any will the inspector expect regarding the suitability of rubber hose for unleaded fuel.

Thanks Alex

Im after the same answer..
I bought 'fuel pipe' from Europa- but it doesnt say the word 'fuel'. Will my Europa invoice do?
Cheers, Mark.

may be wrong but all the proper fuel pipe ive seen has fuel written on it. some of the thinner wall cotton braided stuff thats available is totally unfit and perishes after about two years leading to precious (and highly flammable) fuel spraying eveywhere.
going to have a quick look at the manual now

cant find anything in the manual but im sure mot regs would require fuel pipe to be marked.
its really not worth skimping on fuel hose anyway. its only £3 or £4 a metre at your local halfords.

The tester will require that the fuel pipe is marked, as the fuel pipe you can buy from Halfords, or has documentation to proofs it's suitability.
Metal pipe is generaly accepted without proof.
Nylon needs proof.
Braided can pass but mine leaked like a sieve
Rubber needs the correct markings on it for both fuel resistance and burst pressure.
Can't use carb fuel pipe on an injection set up

It does not need to say fuel on it but must have the correct BS code visible on the pipe or it's a fail

Thanks everyone. Looks as if I'll have to send the stuff I bought back as it's not marked and the supplier can't provide a certificate.

I went to the local motorist store for one bit (marked up 'Fuel etc' and went to local hydraulic suppliers for another (also was marked up). - So you don't have to get everything by mail order - only 85% of it

Anyone know what the correct BS code is?
