Best material to wrap wiring loom for IVA ?
Tris - 19/4/11 at 07:48 PM

Evening all,

Just about finished my wiring loom now, and thoughts are turning towards finally wrapping / protecting it.

In everyones experience, whats the best to use when also considering IVA requirements ?. Ive got some twist wrap, but that looks a pain to fit TBH. Cloth tape maybe to ?, or is spiral wrap allowed ?

Cheers
Tris

Split convoluted PVC conduit would be much nicer and easier, plenty on ebay

Yep, that's what I'm using. I've also used looming tape in a lot of places, but the tubing will give it extra protection and look neater

I like Scapa Rayon Cloth Wiring Loom Tape 1 Rolls 18mm x 25m | eBay UK over split cond' or spiral wrap.

Split PVC conduit every time.

I used both split conduit and black pvc tape and passed sva with that setup

I used PVC loom tape, passed SVA with it but if I needed to leave part of the loom bare where wires went to different places (eg; dashboard) I used self amalgamating tape to bind the end of the tape wrapping. The reason was that insulating tape can become loose or loose its grip in time.
