When i started my build in 2005 i bought a 1.6 Sierra donor car and later a 2ltr zetec engine.
For the purpose of getting an age related plate i did the engine number update to the donor V5.
All sounds good until recently i noticed that the CC didn't get updated to 2ltr.
So now i don't know what to do, options as i see it:
1. Give in on age related plates and take a Q - dont worry about the V5
2. Leave the details as they are, declare engine and gearbox as original and see what happens.
3. Go to my local DVLA office and attempt to update the V5 using a letter from Ford showing the engine details as proof of what it is. DVLA guidance
is varied on this, the V5 guide notes say only a letter from a garage but the website lists several options inlcuding written proof from the
manufacturer.
The declaration form for registration is a bit vague when it comes to declaring donor components, for example, what parts constitute using the donor
steering? Column, rack and uprights? Steering wheel? You get what i mean! Same with axles, how many parts do you use before you have used the axle
assembly?
I'm having a good think as i dont want to make the wrong decision and burn my bridges!
Any advice gratefully received!
cheers
I am sure dvla got wise to that one and require proof the new engine was actually fitted to the donor.
my v5 shows the correct engine number but not cc, either I missed that or the dvla didn't process it. wish I noticed at the time as it
wasn't a problem back then.
