Emisions at MOT
adithorp - 27/5/11 at 04:10 PM

There's been a few mentions recently that the correct MOT emmision check, should be related to the levels at SVA/IVA and shown on the front of your V5... and that you might be lucky that the tester doesn't notice and misstakenly, just does a "visable smoke" check.

Update having just returned from MOTing mine. ( Passed )

Although the emmisions are on my V5, they didn't come up on the check sheet when they logged it onto the MOT system. Niether did the brake wieghts.. or anything else. Although the engine size, colour, etc did come up the rest of the sheet was completly blank.

So you'll increase the chances of getting a lower level test by not showing your V5

What front plate did you have and how was the testers eyesight?

My car (Q plate) was tested during this week and the emissions were shown on the checklist so maybe things are changing?

Do I need to take the V5 with me...?

Thats strange. When they logged mine on today, we were all curious what would be on the system. Reg number brought up Make/model, colour, cc and VIN, but no notes. Don't think I've ever seen one with no notes at all before.

Maybe it depends on what the SVA/IVA testing station bothered to put on the system.
