Brakes Pipes Again
johnemms - 20/7/11 at 12:54 PM

I do not intend polishing my copper brake pipes in the future..
I fancied giving them a lick of protective paint,
then cliping them permanantly into place..

Question:

Will the IVA need to see the bare pipe and do I need any documentation ?

Cheers

I honestly can't see the point of that. Brake pipes do tarnish a bit with time, but they still look ok. If you paint them they will chip at some stage and look messy. Each to their own though. I don't see that painting them will impact IVA - unless you need to prove the material they are made from.

If you paint them make sure you take along a piece of the original tubing showing any numbers it has printed on it in case the inspector is suspicious.
Can't see any point painting them myself, but each to their own.

Wurth clear aerosol wax will protect, but markings can still be seen
