What are they key identifying parts on a V5c that show info on donor age etc?
The registration plate number, if it's not on a Q plate.

Date of registration on V5, or age related plate
So there will be a 2 dates, 'date of registration' of donor and' date of registration' as a kit? Im after the official
section/area of the v5 to look on -
This is to help out a friend who has a tiger - i think she has a kit based on a Jreg donor, but she thinks its a personal plate and it can have a
newer reg put on it. Ive not seen the v5 but trying to guide her where to look to confirm.
you can't put a newer private plate on, it must match the original registration year, or be older.
This would be the donor age if it's a kit car, and not of new parts.
The V5 will show date of first registration
The reg will be the age of the donor
If you suspect it's carrying a personal reg you need to get intouch with DVLA to find the original reg
The emmissions requirement may show if the current reg is of similar age
A personal reg can only be the same year or older than original
J reg is likely to be correct and original

The V5 will show you the date the car was built. The donor car's year of registration sets the letter of the registration plate.
The vehicle may have been built in 2011 but if it's donor car was a K reg Sierra for instance then it will have been registered with a K reg
plate (just not the same reg as the donor). You can change the number but be aware you can't go newer than a K plate.
The only excption to this is if the car was built (almost) entirely from new parts. It would be unusually for anyone to take this (very expensive)
route and then choose to put an older reg number on the car unless it was a valuabe private plate - which they would take off when they sold the car.
Normally those who have built their cars from all new parts are eager to show it.
I take it the owner has checked the V5 to see that it is regiestered as a kit car and not still as the donor car ?
Its defo registered as a Tiger, and I understand the processes behind registering as an age related plate, but Im really after where it will say that
in the V5. Ie of the car was registered based on a 1993 K reg donor, but built in 2002, but has since had a J plate personal plate on, where will it
show on the V5 that the car was - a: built in 2002, and b: based on a 93 donor.
Will it be under the special notes on the front page for example??
My V5C shows this under Section 3 Special notes.
1. NON-TRANSFERABLE NUMBER
2.WAS REGISTERED AND/OR USED. DECLARED MANUFACTURED 1985.
Section 4
B. Date of first registration. 02.05.2000
If it has been registered correctly, the V5C will have the "date of registration" (of the kit) and "date of first registration in the
UK", which should be the donor. DVLA often get this bit wrong though.
David
I have age related plate and the V5C shows:-
Section 4B: Date of first registration 12 08 1980, V5 donor reg. date
Section 4[B.1]: Date of first registration in the UK 16 06 2006, reg. date of kit car
