Cat 2 immobiliser compliance
I predict a Riot - 7/4/12 at 09:14 PM

Can anyone help me out with this one?

I know that my car has to have a Cat 2 immobiliser for compliance for IVA.

I am using the donor Ford Puma PATs system.

The IVA manual states that I must provide written evidence that the system installed is compliant.

How do I do that? Is there a Ford document somewhere I can use?

IIRC, you only need an immobiliser if you haven;t got a mechanical system (such as steering lock). Also, the PATS system is surely type-approved by Ford so negates the Cat2 Thatcham requirement?

I'd need to look through the latest IVA manual to be sure though...

I don't have any steering lock or other type of immobiliser I was relying on the PATs.

I picked this up from section 13a page 279 of the IVA manual.

Thanks for the help.

Download the latest manual, as I read it, the requirement for documentary evidence has been removed as 06/2009

Hi
Loggyboy is correct, the requirement for documentary evidence has been removed as 06/2009.
We passed our IVA on Dec19 2011 with a Toad Sterling cat2 immobiliser & Ign switch.
He checked if it was present & that was it.
good luck
