When the ignition is in postion 2 (run) but engine not started do I need to show a battery light(from Altenator).

My current iginiton light(s) are:
Oil pressure light.

NB I do have a voltmeter on the dash

There's no legal requirement for an ignition light but it does tell you if your alternator is charging or not and it initiates the energising current in the alternator, without which there may be no output. Wiring is simple, alternator terminal 61,(on sierra) to lamp and bat pos through position 2 of ignition switch to other side of lamp.

Sorted then. Won't bother with Charge light. Have voltmeter and can tell from that

Except, as Dusty said, you need the bulb otherwise the alternator won't work! It provides a small amount of current to some of the alternator coils, so there is some magnetic field to begin the generation process when the alternator first starts rotating.

You don't have to display it, but you must have one somewhere.

Cheers Dave, I think and Under bonnet Insepction Lamp will be mounted only lit when the engine is running
