I think my rearview mirror is the sameand it failed on the radius I had to glue tadpole beading around it ps is the rear fog light adjustable cant see in the picture what angle it sits at

looks nice mate good job

martin is a very nice bloke hopefully ill be seing him soon too

tegwin - 22/4/12 at 10:28 PM

That is a smart looking car!

What are the regulations with regards repeater indicators?

if the steering is at extreme lock you wont be able to see the repeater from the side/behind? Exactly the spot a cyclist is likeley to be...

Canada EH! - 22/4/12 at 10:42 PM

I hate to ask, but what is that colour? It looks like a slightly darker shade of UDT Laystall colours used in the 60's by their race teams.

JeffJeffers - 22/4/12 at 10:49 PM

The mirror was sold as IVA ok but I will get some trim just in case.
The rear fog lamp is attached to the chassis with an aluminum 'L' shaped bracket, which can be bent a little to change the angle.

I have put the side repeaters in the same place MK do and I'm taking it to the same Easter that they do. So I hope they will be OK.

It is ultimate green the same colour as a Focus RS.

Can't see any obvious problems but something will crop up just make sure you have plenty of spare guff to cover edges etc plus tools and tie wraps. They are super helpful at Notts . if you present a crisp and tidy car they will do all they can to help get you through (unless things have changed)

Looking very nice indeed , good luck and look forward to seeing it about the area soon.

sorry Cant be of any help with the dreaded iva, but a great build ! Fantastic looking mk! Well done fella

adithorp - 23/4/12 at 08:46 AM

Looks good. Very tidy build.

Only things I can see...
The wiring on the column doesn't have any protection from chafing. Either spiral wrap or split convoluted tube will do. A lot of people have failed on the odd bit of wire being uncovered, so I'd go around the whole car and check there's no more as well.
Are the top seat belt mounts higher than the bottom edge of the holes in the seat back? Can't tell from the pictures but if they're not (so the belt runs uphill) then the seat becomes structural and you'll fail.

I would cover the gap between the steering wheel and dash, if not only just to neeten it up

I used a baked bean tin wrapped in green vinyl and araldited to the inside of the steering wheel

Good luck!

steve

There is a better view of the back and fog lamp bracket.

I did think it would be a good idea to cover the steering column but I was sure of the best thing to use. Could be beans on toast for my dinner tonight!!

Its kind of levelish. Can I space that with some washers or would that fail?

Toprivetguns - 23/4/12 at 10:52 AM

Good effort ! Best of luck to you

Yes, I think that'll be fine. A lot of people have passed with longer bolts and a spacer (bit of tube) under the buckle to raise it up; Some as much as 2" long! Can't believe it's good engineering, but they pass. They checked mine with a spirit level so be carefull if they're "levelish"

Dangle_kt - 23/4/12 at 11:24 AM

Does the front edge of the wing mount need some radius material near the top? See where it gets flatened out?

The globe of doom takes no prisoners!

johnwilders - 24/4/12 at 07:48 PM

Nice Build.
Have you checked the field of view from your O/S mirror, Is that toggle switch legal.
Good luck, Just posted the forms myself.
