Hazard Telltale

Hello

A quick question. I have my digidash wired up with left and right indicator tell tales, However, one set of tell tales is positivie switched and the other is negative so I made up a little relay to flip the polarity on one side.

I am using the standard sierra hazard switch. With the ignition off and the hazards on the hazard switch flashes red and the right indicator tell tale only flashes (the left doesn't because it needs the ignition on).

Will this setup be ok for IVA or do I need both indicator tell tales (or none). I assume that as the hazard light switch flashes I've met the minnimum requirements

Play safe and stop it. Else make both flash

I would interpret the manual that you have met the condition of having a tell tale by having the switch flash.

Not sure what the view of the having one indicator tell tale flashing would be, I would think it might be a failure, probably safer with none.

When you say one side is negatively switched, do you mean the whole indicator light circuit or only the tell tale?

If you are using an acewell dash I didn't realise that any of the indicator tell tales were negatively switched, the drawing for the 7659 is very badly drawn and makes it look like one side side is negatively switched but I think this is a drawing problem beacuse if you look next to the indicator symbol there is a small + sign (only the oil pressure light and brake warnign light are -ve switched). If I'm barking up the wrong tree just ignore me.

The problem is that you can't tell from your dash whether you've got an indicator on or if your hazards are on. I failed on this, the inspector wanted a repeater that clearly indicated the hazards were on. I wired in a separate red warning light with a white triangle on it.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm using a Koso DB02R with the extra tell tale light unit - http://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/new-db02r-with-universal-indicator-kit-120-p.asp

Sounds like I need to stop the single tell tale flashing and just have the hazard switch flashing. I should be able to add a mini relay that will only allow the tell tale to flash when the ignition is on.
