Guys,
I have been out of the loop for a few years (my car went through the SVA) and I have tried searching to see if there is a handy SVA - IVA changes
list? In other words is there a list of what was required for SVA that is now not a requirement for IVA and vice versa?
Hopefully someone can link to a thread for me to have a read as I have the hankering for another car after visiting Stoneleigh!
Thanks
Col
Its actually not too different...there should be a link to the manual in the iva section here...
main thing is the cost, you need a cat, noise is something like 2Db lower...
You don't need a cat with an older engine. Three-point seatbelts need to automatically retract in IVA.
You need approved sticker by the brake reservoir.

The cat requirement is still post 95 engines
The extra requirements are small, a sticker for the brake fluid resoviour.
Markings for switches and warning lights
Tethered fuel cap
Interior projections for an open top vehicle.
In essence not a lot different but you should read the IVA manual and not rely on a list made by others.
Don't forget reverse for a BEC
All these little things justified the 237% hike in the price.....
......NOT!!
There are a few differences - as has been said - mainly the cost (it was £450 test and £90 for retest early last year when I did mine).
Eg... one I personally fell foul of - the foglight has to throw a parrallel beam.
They initially required the brake bias bar to be permanently locked by welding the whole of the threaded bar - they backed off on this stupid idea
and now they are ok with just lockwire.
BUT - as snapper rightly says - read it yourself - don't rely on our fallable memories.
Link as requested, but run it through to the last post (by Loggyboy) for the latest update ------>
