Evening all.
I've been recently having many thoughts about getting another kit and had actually started looking at spending a fair bit on a Caterham
(it's the car I've always wanted).
However, Caterham's are quite epxensive and I need to do some work to my house too.
So, one thing that caught my eye was the ex-racer Ginetta G20's that seem to go for around the £5/6k mark.
Obviously they need putting through IVA and this shouldn't be too much hassle on the face of it.
They don't have lights on them though, so this will need sorting (mk2 MX5 units?).
Has anyone put one of these cars through and can maybe share the experience/problems encountered?
I have my eye out for a couple of other cars, maybe a Westy or Fury, but the Ginetta is a bit different IMHO and I find that quite appealing in a
way.
Any pointers/opinions appreciated!
Steve
I haven't done it, but I've had the same idea for yonks!
I reckon IVA would be a (relative) doodle. Some of the cars do come with complete lighting units, and Ginetta can still supply them if not.
Great handling cars the G20's too.
If you can prove it's over 10 years old (that's since completed in it's current incarnation) then it's exempt from IVA, you need
only get an MOT.
ETA: technically this is the case, but I'm unsure of the process and level of proof DVLA would require.

Any updates on this?
Stevie B, did you proceed with the idea?
'Cos I'm thinking about exactly the same idea - road registering a former Ginetta G20 race car.
cheers, Colin
