IVA form questions for R1 bec

Hi all

After 3 years I'm finally ready to part with my well earnt and get the bloody thing IVA'd.

The engine I'm using is a carbed 4xv R1 engine and I am just looking at the power/rpm section. According to various stats it makes its peak power at 10000rpm/10500rpm depending on which stats you beleive. I hear that its best to lower this a touch on the form is that right? Does anyone have any suggestions what I should put in?

They use it to calculate the revs' to do the noise test at. ie 3/4 max-power revs so if you put 10000rpm then the noise test will be done at 7500rpm. If you put nothing then the test will be done at 2/3 of max revs.
Obviously the lower you put then the lower the test will be done at, but VOSA do have an pretty good idea what the revs are so don't go too low.

Would that not be taking the michael a little?

I was hedging towards 9500rpm, knocking a bit off but not too much?

I filled mine out recently ('03 R1) and put 9000rpm. My form passed VOSA's 'technical check' (not sure what that involves!) but hopefully the inspector won't take issue with it on test day.

Ok will stick down 9k and see what happens.

I take it youre heading for bishopbriggs? Any word on what the testers are like? Have you got a date yet?

I can't remember what I put on my SVA form, ( 03 5PW R1) but I remember the test was carried out at 7000rpm.

I would be wary about taking the p*ss - these people aren't idiots and will have tested umpteen cars with the same engine.

Yep, Bishopbriggs.

It took VOSA about a week to process my form, then the application was handed over to the Bishopbriggs test centre. They phoned a couple of days later to discuss dates. I was offered a choice and went for 17th August. Not sure if I'll be ready, but they seem pretty happy for me to call up and postpone it (min 3 days notice I think).

The inspector only works there part time because he covers several different test centres, but it seemed like there was good availability; I was offered some test days only two weeks away at the time, but there was no way I could have been ready!

I've not heard any others' experiences with the inspector. Hopefully he's a reasonable chap!

My IVA people were very forgiving with noise and emissions - I got the impression they didn't really care about this stuff.
