Re-test Booked
Daddylonglegs - 30/7/12 at 08:54 AM

Re-test booked for Sat 4th Aug. Let's hope we can sort it this time.

The tester said he needs 1 1/2 hrs, most of that will be the brake test and paperwork I guess. 4 of the 5 fail points sorted, just the brakes to get right then we're hopefully off to DVLA with the necessary to get a reg

Cost me £90 plus a 'Saturday Fee' (£19) but it was either that or wait until the end of August So I bit the bullet. Just hope it was worth it. I don't think my bank balance can take much more!!

Good luck mate, what have done to the rear brakes? Mine are standard Sierra drums on the back and haven't locked up before the fronts?? Wonder why yours are? Maybe just sling some new shoes in and don't bed them in? Or put some better pads on the fronts??

I'm sure you'll pass this time mate so good luck.

Cheers

Rich

Cheers Rich

I think it's a combination of new discs and pads on the front (Cortina) so not bedded in yet, and 9" Ford drums on the rear (not sure what off) and they are used drums with new shoes. I hear that the 8" would probably have been a better choice.

Hopefully we'll be sorted with the Sierra ball-bearing valve.

BTW, how are you dealing with the 'Winter' down there?

JB

Ta much!

Fitted Sierra inertia valve and had my eldest watch me braking from about 15-20mph on the gravel drive, and the fronts locked up everytime (did about 15 runs) without the rears so let's hope I've cracked it? Searching t'internet seemed to say mounting it at 20deg was about right so we will see.

Find out in 48hrs
