AT LAST!!!!
Daddylonglegs - 6/8/12 at 04:30 PM

I can only say top job to Bristol DVLA. Went in there armed with all the paperwork, talked to a very nice man for 5 minutes, and came away with a bit of paper, a tax disc, and I now have these:

Reg Plates
Reg Plates

I reckon the grin is bigger than when I got the IAC!

Well done, looks like you got a proper Q on your numberplate. My local Halfords had obviously tried to cut costs by not ordering the letter Q so they had to make one out of an O and a straight bit from another letter...

lol! Mate, mine could be a picture of chewbaka for all I care, as long as it's legal

Chuffed as a chuffed think with chuff sauce on

nice
did you need an inspection of any kind with DVLA? i'm trying to get my head round whats involved for a Q plate. can understand inspections for a new reg or age related, but not a Q. i'll get to that stage one day

Daddylonglegs - 6/8/12 at 04:45 PM

Yep, had my inspection a fair while ago, only difference is, with a Q plate you don't need to worry about receipts because that's only for proof of purchas of major components in the case of an age-related plate.

It's the v55/4 for q plates and age related or v55/5 if your going for a new plate, you can order these by phone or online but they take an age to come so you might want to pick them up at ur local dvla office.

You also need the amateur build declaration form but you can download this one and print it yourself

Davegtst - 6/8/12 at 08:41 PM

Thanks. I filled out an amateur build declaration with the iva paperwork, do I need to fill out a different one?

johnwilders - 6/8/12 at 09:00 PM

Have you been out on the road yet, fun int it. It does tend to bring out the worst in you

Daddylonglegs - 6/8/12 at 09:21 PM

Thanks guys, it really is a great feeling after all these years and doubts

I can honestly say though, I'd never do a scratch build again, it was effin hard work at times and fraught with those 'give up' moments. I would also not really want to go through the IVA again, not just for the picky nature of it, but the damn cost!

Anyhow, there now, and once again it's a BIG

to all on here who have ever helped me through the tough times. But don't quit guys, now th real build begins

As for the questions about the paperwork, I submitted an amateur build declaration and the V55/5 which I collected from my local DVLA. Got an appointment within about 3 weeks then it was just a case of wating for the IVA result. The rest, as they say, was easy

Anyhow, here's to some decent weather so I can find out what rattles and what leaks
