I just received a SORN renewal this morning , according to their records my SORN expires at the end of this month, but I already taxed the car 4 weeks
ago, do I need to contact them to inform them of this fact or is their system just really slow at processing stuff?. Having read the form several
times there is no mention that if you have recently taxed the car to disregard this letter?.

A phone call would ot hurt. It might stop some automated process that sends out a fine.
I would not ignore it, as the SORN fine system is automated.
They are very inefficient especially at this time of year.
I would do an online check of the road tax status before doing anything else.

Thanks folks, I just fired off an email with the details. Also did the online check which backs up my tax status.
Just odd that their own website has the correct details and yet the section that sends out the SORN forms appear not to have.... oh well, not my
problem I suppose.
There is a disclaimer on the online check page that does say if you have recently purchased a disc, that the details on the site may not be up to
date. Shame they do not say that on the paper version that they send you.
Just had visions of them sending me a fine for something that was not my doing....
Rich.
The reminders are printed about 8 weeks in advance, my wife put a personal plate on her car, a month later the tax reminder came with old registration number on. Tried entering the reference online and it was no longer valid.
