Just been to register it at borehamwood local office. Is there any government agency that isn't hard work? They insisted it needed an MOT and didn't have a clue about what to do. Eventually they came back and said i was right and it didn't need an MOT as it had just had an IVA. I now have up to a 2 week wait for either a tax disc or an inspection date. They even wanted to charge me for 2.0 litre tax and not the 1.3 it should be. She was reading the wheelbase in mm instead of the cc of the engine! No kit car this weekend then

Hard luck with DVLA. At least they were willing to exept they were wrong. Some have been known to stick to thier guns and cause delays.

2 weeks wait might not be what you wanted to hear but it's not a bad result. Some have had to wait a month or more. Only the very lucky ones get it done same day.

Great, glad to hear you had a much better retest after the first test was such a trial - was it the same guy / centre ?

Good luck with getting on the road, though it sounds like you had a bit of a rubbish start there, too?

Davegtst - 1/9/12 at 08:59 AM

Yep same centre and tester. All he did was let me adjust the speedo healer so it was bang on (after reading the iva manual again there was nothing wrong with it in the first place) and do the noise test again. It took all of 20 minutes, the paperwork took longer.

I had to register mine a year ago and DVLA insisted i required MOT and sent me away to get one. Just received tax renewal and gues what?? no MOT needed. can i go and claim a refund on existing one?

wish some one would send out a checklist to the offices so that they can get it right.

There is a checklist of what documentation is required ON the V55/4 or V55/5 that you fill in to register.

Gemini - 5/9/12 at 02:58 PM

I pointed that out to them and they still insisted i needed one.
