IVA & flaking powder-coat
bodger - 30/11/12 at 10:01 PM

My car's been sat in the garage for over 4 years now on a protracted on-off build whilst various other projects were undertaken. Unfortunately the sea air hasn't done it any favours & the powder coat has lifted in a few places exposing the bare metal. I'm aiming to get it IVA'd next spring & there's still quite a bit to do so I didn't want to get into stripping the chassis & repainting. I was hoping to just get it built, IVA'd, enjoy the "summer" (fingers crossed) & then sort it out next winter when it's off the road again. Could it fail IVA though on missing paint?.

No, as long as the rust isnt effecting the structure.

As above, but if you slap some POR15 onto it then that stuff sticks well to lightly rusted surfaces and looks a bit like powerdercoat

Hi
Definitely touch up any bare spots with a good rust primer & a coat of blackfriars
Satin black , its very hard wearing & looks very similar to powdercoat.
Never mind a bout IVA, do it for your own piece of mind,, you wont regret it later.
Good luck
René.
