Me Again!
Shortly I will be putting a series of pre iva pics for you guys to comment on. In the meantime whats the general opinion on my upper ball joint
protection for iva, acceptable or not? Its basically a square section of rubber about 4mm thick that has been wrapped in and around with insulation
tape.
Description
From memory the area you have covered is exempt from radius testing. There's a diagram in the manual that should clarify this..
Mark.
Interesting point you raised, but also puzzling. My tester never queried my unprotected upper (adjustable) ball joints, because the "sphere of doom" couldn't get anywhere near them. Hope that remains the case for the re-test.
I found some plastic ball joint covers then wrapped the adjuster nut in neoprene then used large shrink wrap
Can't be to carefull I thought
Mine was 2 TRE rubbers back-to-back:
IVA 5
Passed fine , and I've left them there to keep the Cr*p out
Not sure if is it a 'testable' bit but I am fairly sure that wrapping stuff with tape is not considered a permanent solution and would potentially fail on that - if indeed it is in a testable area.

Be careful there! That's what I thought, but my tester found a 'new' non-compliance on my re-test, but luckily I fixed it there and then. It was nothing to do with the original fail points
