Thanks for any help

You should let them know of the engine number change but I'm sure many people wouldn't bother if it's just like for like

Thats what I was thinking, but some one has told me that if there was an insurance claim , its likely that the insurance company would not pay up if the engine number did not match what was on the V5. Any body any thoughts or experience of this ?

well why not just do it, it's not going to cost you anything!

Unlikely tbh. As long as you told them what engine it is I doubt they'd care.

My 7 had had so many crossflow engines, they would do me for wasting there time, altering the paperwork on a monthly basis !

Now, all my engines have the same no

When the the insurence assessor came to my kit one of the first things he checked was engine number. It's no hassle to change it do it.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a good idea to get it done, I did not realise it was easy to do and no cost.

Dead simple, there's a section on the V5 for new detail, just fill it in and send it off, iirc you only need to send a section of the V5 off, not the whole doc.

My experience of changing engine numbers involved a bit of paperwork.

Engine number or cylinder capacity (cc)

You’ll need to provide either:a receipt for the replacement enginewritten evidence from the manufactureran inspection report provided for insurance purposeswritten confirmation on headed paper from a garage (if the change took place before you bought the vehicle)
