Head lamp height....

As per the IVA manual - It states minimum height of the dipped beam as 500mm. So, is this the height of the actual bulb or the light housing?.....I hope it's the bulb else I can't see how a Sylva J15 would ever pass unless it's running 17 rims!.

From the manual :-

Lamp/reflector lateral position is measured from the extreme outer edge of the vehicle (disregarding tyres, mirrors, lamps and reflectors) to the edge of the illuminated area (or reflective surface on a reflector) nearest that side of the vehicle. Lamp/reflector vertical position is measured from the ground:

In the case of the minimum height to the lower edge of the illuminated area (reflective surface on a reflector).
In the case of a Dipped Beam headlamp the minimum height will be measured to the apparent trace of the beam cut-off on the lens. If this point cannot be determined then you will take the lower edge of the illuminated area.

In the case of the maximum height to the top edge of the illuminated area (reflective surface on a reflector).

Humm.....I'm really going to struggle with this, even with the ride height at the top of it's travel. Wheels are 13", but are 60's so not that much difference in dia than 15's with a 50.

They've passed IVA before so it isn't impossible. Fury's suffer the same issue.

"...In the case of a Dipped Beam headlamp the minimum height will be measured to the apparent trace of the beam cut-off on the lens..."

This is interpretted as the lower edge of the triangular shaped lens area/section that focuses the cut off... the bit you mask out for european driving.

lights front

I think these are still valid ?

Agreed it is tricky on a Phoenix too.

Raise the ride height, use the donor wheels and tyres, move the lights to the top of the hole, use smaller lights (so can be mounted higher).

I don't think that the westfield picture is correct. 500mm to the wedge on the lights. At least that is what I needed for SVA.

Reading Deecee's interesting J15 build article in JPSC Proper Job from March 2013 I found the following text in his 'post IVA mods'.
"A plate to raise the lower front shock absorber mounts (to gain headlamp height) was removed."

I did this to raise the rear for the minimum rear fog lamp height, with the spring height wound right up.
