would anyone know the smallest front number plate you can get away with I really didn't want a stick on type on the nosecone but a standard one will catch the speed humps round here ? any pics appreciated

thanks in advance

there was a thread about having it hinged so it folded back on impact,.. maybe that is an option?

The law is quite clear, there is only one size of plate and character font/size and spacing allowed.

In practice however, ... , until you get pulled over for whatever reason and they throw the book at you!

its strange that you have to have a prescribed space for the rear number plate for IVA, but not for the front

Mine std but trimmed at the corner no probs

The smallest legal size will depend on how many characters as well as their widths. Add to this the correct spacing and the smallest legal border and you have your answer.

Off the net...

Any number plate made up after 1st September 2001 must meet the dimensions as below:
Character Height
79 mm
Character Width (except the figure 1 or letter I)
50 mm
Character stroke
14 mm
Space between characters
11 mm
Space between groups
33 mm
Top, bottom, and side margins (minimum)
11 mm
Space between vertical lines
19 mm

Mine fell off 5 months ago, so it's kept in the boot until I get pulled

There's no reason why a standard plate should hit the deck if mounted right.
