So, IVA today.....
Southampton IVA center...Very professional, pleasent and fair.
Fail 1). Very annoying! bottom seat belt bolts not correct grade, even though I purchased and was assured they were grade 8!...Very pissed about that
one, and the bolt shop on ebay will be getting a stern talking to.
Fail 2). Wing mirrors not high enough, need another 4 inches on them. Interesting one as I believe they are the same as other J15 owners, and also
positioned the same.
Fail 3). And the surprise one for me was......Sound..too high at 102dbs......problem is, it wasn't the exhaust it was simply the fact that the
engine is open to the rear, so I need sound deadening.
All in all not too bad :-)
Paul.

I struggled to find 8.8 grade shouldered 7/16ths bolts, ended up paying £10 for 4 off ebay but they do have 8.8 on the head.
How did they find out as i am going to have to take photos of mine!
Congratulations sort of.
1) Bolts, tut tut and blaming the poor ebay supplier
2) Mirrors are an issue on a J15, someone on this forum recommended some from Furore that are just the business, I passed on this one with them.
3) Noise, if it is the engine what power plant are you using I assume it is induction roar?

To get to look at the bolts, they used a scope and camera. By using this he could get right down the back of the seats.
The bolts I purchased were these (they have three lines on them - willtry and post a pic later):
7/16" UNF Hex Head Bolt Steel Grade 8.8 Imperial Bolts
Ironically, I opened an ebay case up as when they arrived they did not appear to be grade 8.8. the seller sent me the following reply at the time:
Hi Grade 5 bolts is imperial 8.8 bolts, only metric bolts have 8.8 stamped on the head. The bolts you have had are correct Regards'
So, I believed them....The tester did say if I could show evidence that they were equiv to grade 8.8, that would suffice. Alas someone simply saying
it was not enough. So, yes, I should have somehow knew, but I missed this one!.
For the mirrors.....Mr Prisoner, I copied your set up exactly, same mirrors and used the measurements from your blog...still failed...so it's
your fault :-)...
Engine is a standard puma on throttle bodies...a few theories on this one, my recent inner rear wheel arches stop some of the sound escaping from the
side, and the rear is fairly open....PLan is to add an extra panel behind the exhaust, and some additional deadening on the rear clam.

Here is the offending bolt:
Anyone has any idea what grade it is and can show evidence, then that saves me the job of removing all my seat...The challenge is on!.

Pretty good result all considered.
Did you drive it there, if so, has the grin gone yet and how did the puma engine feel? (I picked up an omex 710 for mine so may habe to take a trip to
Northampton next year sometime, fingers crossed)
I did drive it there, and it was sunny...felt fantastic, although suspension needs a full set up. PLenty quick enough for now :-)
Sounds like a 'good' fail, not too much to sort out and you'll be on the road - well done
