Went to look at another Mk the other day, and its registered as a 'Sylivia, from 1985'.
Its on a Q plate, so i assume he had it IVA'd?
How can it still have the wrong log book if its been assigned a Q plate etc?

Having a Q plate just means it has been made up of random major components which have not been proven to be new.
Does the log book have the same Q registration on it?
If it's a different reg, it's obviously not the same car so steer clear.
If the reg is correct, then fine, i'd be looking at when the car was first registered on the road.
IVA took effect from 29 April 2009, was SVA before this, and if you go back far enough you wouldn't even need SVA.
The make and model on the V5 would have been taken from whatever the owner registered at the time, and i doubt DVLA would have questioned this even if
we know that it was wrong.

Someones ringed a sylva leader or star, there's no chance that is a legit mk.

Yep Q reg is on log book as I found it via Not check website.
But the description is Sylvia first registered 1985.
As this is an mk it must have been recent enough to need an IVA.
Just trying to establish If it's sloppy paper work or outright deception and no IVA has been done.
As the car looks nice.

I can't see sloppy paperwork could say an MK Indy from late 90s on, is described as a Sylvia 1985.
It must be deliberate, and as the other comment said, most likely is it's an old Sylva bought as an old nail, and they stick the v5 on a newer MK
Indy.

Yeah I'm steering clear.. shame as it looks very well built. As already said, it's amazing that people cut corners after going to the

Sometimes an idea in a club or group of builders which catches on. Sad really as they think they know better and don't seek formal advice.
Just being fussy here BUT does it say Sylva or SylVia on the log book?
Its Sylvia. Sylva did cross my mind when i first read it, although it wouldn't make it much better.
Up until a year or so ago you could pick up an abandoned leader or star for less than an Iva.
What engine has it got?

Not sure why more kits weren't built with that engine, 2.0l turbo 200-250hp, ok it is iron block but pretty much a budget cosworth and you get a free 6 speed box with later versions.
