How have people got on with fiberglass seat shells and the edges when going through IVA? I have not put U channel round the edges, as they are already
radius'd. Some companies advertise that it is a requirement though to do so?!
Ta
I donīt need to IVa, but my first seat idea was alu plate an I was going to use vacuum hose slit and glued to the edges.
Now gone a different route, so no longer needed.
Double post..
I donīt have the slightest idea how it happenned.

It's normally the head rest and shoulder area (that points towards the rear of the car) that can cause problems as the radius is forward facing. I put edging on mine and had no issues at IVA.
i only had edging strip on the harness holes, rest was a rolled edge (JK composite seats).
I have no problem with IVA, my seats were bolted direct to rear bulkhead and floor.
Of course from what most of us have said, really depends on the tester you have on the day and his/her interpretation.
I plan to take a load of edging strip with me for my next IVA just in case....

You may want to review and asess if you want sharp edges near your skin in the event of an accident.
Not just IVA compliant, but the safer the better during an accident....
All of the edges have nice radii on them as it is, even on the back lip of the seat. I can put the trim in the harness slots, but it will not improve
the radius that is already in there!
Will see what they say on the day I guess!
