The GTA was Iva'd today and passed first time! The emissions were really good at 2.7% CO and 149 hc. Amazing results for a 4age on webers. I took the car to Northampton Motorsport last week and put it on the rollers to get it better set up. It was money well spent in the end. During the test I just needed to tweak one headlight aim. The tester was a really nice chap and said it was the first GTA he'd seen. He had tested an Ultima yesterday which also passed. Next step is registration.
Well done not many people pass first time

Good job mate.
I fully understand how you feel having had a first time pass myself and it feels sooo good the test itself was like my worst nightmare interview.
Pleasure and pain.
Congratulations
Well done - a real achievement!
Great news!
Nice one!
Nice one!
Which test centre?
Test was at Derby
Hi guys, for the iva test would it be ok to clip the engine loom to the brake lines which are also riveted to the chassis?. A few other things
I'm doing is:
•clipping throttle cables from steering rack
•clipping clutch cable
• removing all insulation tape from engine loom, using amalamalgamating tape.
•Sleeve steering rods
• re-routing & clip coolant pipes
And plenty more lol.
I've got a english live axle and will need reverse, I was planning on using a starter motor but was told I couldn't do that due to the axle
moving up and down. How do you get round this?.
You dont mention the engine set up, but presumes a bike engine
Agreed a live axel reverse motor would be more difficult that bolting to a fixed -IRS diff.
So either fabricate a starter drive to the front of the prop/gearbox (tricky)or go for a split prop with a reverse box in the middle]
Avoid clipping wiring to fuel and brake pipes, not good practice.
Some other clips for cables etc may be acceptable if unlikely to cause any issues through vibration/leakage chafing etc and focus on it being
"like a production vehicle" and you won't go far wrong

Sorry yes I've got a fireblade bike engine fitted.
I think Reman was refering to Jordans post about which engine set up.
Jordan, as above don`t attach wires to brake pipes. I attached wires about every 100mm to avoid any sagging although officially the IVA manual states
" All electrical cables/wires must be free from chaffing and secured at intervals of at least every 300mm unless contained in a secure hollow
component. If you have a wire or cable that has play in it move it about to see if it could rub on anything.
There are many build diaries on the internet with plenty of photos. Good place to look to give you some ideas.
Congratulations!
Remember to take care for a while, until you get used to it - it's a huge difference from a tin-top.
