IVA test and paintwork
westf27 - 4/2/20 at 03:43 PM

Last car I did was sva'd
This time it's IVA.
Question is.....Do I need to have test carried out with bodywork painted or can I wait til afterwards.
Wouldn't want to influence the test either way .

No influence.

Interesting question, my immediate thoughts were:

Does the colour of the vehicle at the point of IVA matter for registration at all?
Does the overall presentation of the vehicle affect the attitude of the inspector on the day?

Colour was only important at registration I seem to remember.I would like to think they are impartial as presentation goes but can see that appearance could influence their assumption to quality of build.
I presented my last seven for sva fully finished in paint and graphics. It looked the part and I would like to think it failed on three things rather than me being the flash git.
I mean not tightening damper bolts is a fail !! And rubbish emissions.
So maybe I could extend my question to ask how many of you have presented for IVA unfinished ?

I think the tester may be harder on you after all if it’s clearly not finished what other mods are you intending to do post IVA. If the tester is a jobsworth you could be in trouble.

As said its should not make any difrerence at all technically
I guess its a case of does it actually look finished or not? And if not what else is not finished..

Colour of vehicle is on the IVA Certificate. May led to a vehicle identity check when registering the car as the colour has changed, or maybe not....?

Ok thanks for the comments and it would appear necessary to paint prior to test

car is ready for test almost.Weather isn't good for painting so I need to push on with

Something else.probably getting it ready for paint.
