fuel cap in tank and sva??
jimmyjonga - 28/1/05 at 11:42 AM

hello there

do you think the sva man would have any problems if i just mount a fuel cap in the tank directly, rather than using an exterior mounted cap and some filler hose???

realise might make luggage carring a bit of an issue, but happy to live with that..

From reading the manual it appears to be a totally valid solution (I was looking at this too)

Plus if you have a lid on the back and it's locked, it's harder for those pesky vandals to nick petrol or 'drop' things into the tank!!!Mainly because they won't know where the filler cap is!!!

Mines a Mini filler neck welded on the tank and in the boot. As long as you use a proper cap it's o.k.

I passed ok with this cap under a locked boot,in fact i'm not even sure the locked boot is an issue as i had to remove my key locks for the retest as they were not radiused enough. Rescued attachment MK Indy build pics 162.jpg

The cap is a screw type made by MOCAL.

cost about £15 a couple of years back from here www.thinkauto.com

A few weeks from SVA but my filler is mounted in the top of the tank. It’s a motorbike type unit from Rally Design (lockable). Bryn at Allyfab fitted it for me when he made the tank. There is also an unleaded fuel nozzle restrictor (which I now realise I don't need) in the bottom of the filler. Rescued attachment fuelfiller.jpg
