Can anyone confirm I have got the correct end of the stick here.
The engine I am using for Wifey's Ford Pop project has a Ford date code that gives a manufacturing date of May 1993. I believe that this will not require a Cat as a Ford Pop is not in the "In Service Emissions" book.

Have I got that right?

If you are fitting a Ford engine that will fit without structural modifications then it will be what ever the emissions regs were for the Ford Pop (ie visible smoke) If you are modifying the original vehicle chassis or body chassis unit to accomodate the Ford engine, then you will need to IVA. So long as you have a proof of date of manufacture letter from Ford confirming the date the engine was manufactured before 1995 the the emissions will be pre-catalyst. and if you are IVA'ing the car as a Q plate then you will have visible smoke only. Not sure how you will get round the glass issue if you are IVA'ing though.

Carry out a non CAT test
CO <= 3.5%
HC <= 1200ppm

MOT maybe more relaxed, and use the vehicle's original reg date

Chillis- it's very modified and will be going for BIVA. The glass is not an issue, all available correctly marked. Q plate is my only option. I'm just about to start sorting a Ford dating letter.
