Anyone had a similar experience.
I had a bit of an accident which meant that I needed to rebuild the car putting all the existing bits (Engine, gearbox, steering, diff, loom etc.)
onto a new frame (replacing a few panels as well). I purchased the same frame as I had originally used. It was not an insurance job so car was not
declared in any of the categories as a write off (probably wrong thing to have done). DVLA suggests this rebuild is OK to retain original plate, but
is not clear on what else I should do. Any advice from your experience would be most welcome.
Regards Dave
As you have replaced the chassis with a new identical one, there is nothing to do.
Best to get a fresh MoT so it gets some sort of inspection.
Thanks, that's what I thought.
Regards
Dave
Nothing to do and if your competent I wouldn't waste your money on an MOT
Presumably you'll need to transfer your old chassis number to the new chassis?
IIRC that needs to be stamped into the chassis or onto a plate that's welded on.

Even the best engineer would benefit from a second pair of eyes... if not an MOT guy then maybe a fellow builder?
We are only human after all...

Funny thing is that after my initial SVA, I put car back on trailer and noticed the examiner had missed a loose bolt on nearside lower wishbone...
Guys, thanks for all you comments. Went in for MOT today and passed with flying colors.
Congratulations - sounds like a job well done.
Have you kept a record of this chassis replacement to show a later purchaser (put in the car paperwork file with all the IVA paperwork and MoTs)
Have you cut uo the old chassis and removed its chassis number?
Cheers
Mike
Yes I've kept all records including receipts of first and later purchase of chassis and my old chassis was cut up and scrapped after chassis
number transferred.
Thanks for the advice.
