Where does mr SVA stand on Flexible brake lines?

Morning all,

I was just wondering where MR SVA man stands on flexible brake lines? Is he of the opinion that they should not touch anything other than the fixings at both ends? Or would he consider them to be okay if affixed to the suspension arms at regular intervals?

I'm just trying to decide how to fix them in place at the moment. I can understand the need to avoid the lines chafing on anything, but if they are unsupported, then they could flap all over the place surely?

Cheers
Andy

Some cars like V.W. polo's have rubber rings around the brake flexi's that attach to brackets on suspension to secure them , may be worth a look?

Flexible brake lines must not snag, rub or chaff on anything but they also must not flap about .

I used plastic P clips bolted together to secure them to the wishbones.
Large P for the wishbone and a small P for the pipe. A strip of metal or plastic between the clips can be used to extend or change the angle.

Hope this makes sense.

a doubled up P-clip! That's a cracking idea!

To be honest, I wasn't sure about clipping the flexi lines straight to the wishbone, as I'm sure it could rub slightly (and eventually wear through something!). My front brakes only have a short run, so I might be able to get away with no clips at all there, but the rears are about twice as long.

Cheers!

I'm using Goodrich braided jobbies. Mine are secured with P clips to the trailing link arms on the rear and to the lower wishbone on the front I hope it's ok.

i left mine unsupported and spent a while adjusting the brackets (mallet!) to ensure it didnt touch anything from lock to lock. However, i wouldnt be suprised if it did fail for flapping about...

Mine touched my front wing bracket very slightly so I put some rubber hose round it and it passed.

At my sva the guy told me to ti-wrap it to the rear wishbone then passed me
He said it was hanging to low
