I think I may have seen something related to this before, but I can't find it now!

Do I need to have internal panelling on the body sides? My Stuart Taylor has aluminium body sides, and obviously without interior panelling the frame tubes are visible and contactable by the SVA man's balls . Will the radiuses of these tubes fail, i.e. do I need to covered up the insides, or can I get away with making sure that the edges of the side panels are not sharp.

Plenty have passed with no internal panels... but that is not to say your's will. Usual disclaimer applies...

Justg make sure anything contactable has the correct radius. No internal panels on my westfield and it passed ok.

You have to cover the RHS tube under the dash with split heater hose, so you might have to do the same with the exposed tubes on the sides ? Like others have said very much depends on the inspector. Mine specifically stated he was looking to ensure the car was safe, and that was his interpretation of the SVA manual. Not whether the car had exactly perfect radiused edges everywhere.

Hammer, I wish my inspector had said that!!
He checked EVERY part of the car with his radius gauges and gave me a list as long as my arm. He even failed my gear knob which is round with a flattish top and a Lotus badge on it. The transition between the round and flat was less than the required rad. For retest, I fittes spherical one!!
