Under the Dash

Is there a cut off line for radius underneath the dash? I heard somewhere that anything past the invisble line that runs down from the dash. I want to put the battery cut off switch on the tunel panel that runs under the dash and it wont have a big enough radius.

Can anyone confirm this?

Sounds like where I put my battery cut off switch and it passed. mine is about 3" behind the imaginary line directly in front of the gear lever

When our car was tested (Bishopbriggs March 2004) anything below a horizontal plane created from the bottom lip of the dash forward to the 'scuttle firewall panel' was checked...

All wiring/brackets on our car were above this level.

Cheers

Reading the manual, I think (if I understand correctly) it actually says that anything below the dash, forward of the dash and more than 150mm above the seat base height, must comply with the radius requirements. I guess if you had a very high seat then the 150mm might take you onto the dash anyway, in which case anything forward of the dash would be exempt, but then you wouldn't fit in the car and the seatbelt heights would be an issue!

I think in general terms, anything above the pedal pads but below the horizontal plane of the dash is checked, if the manual is adhered to by the tester.

can you box this in? i.e put a horisontal bit of ally between the bottom of the dash and the nearest under scuttle chassis rail? - it would need to be removable to get to wiring etc in future.
