Fuel filler cap
Jeffers_S13 - 4/4/05 at 11:35 AM

Now Ive bought one and gone to the effort of fitting it I thought Id look up whether its actually gonna oass the SVA ! doh !

after a lot of searching I found that it may need to be lockable, have to have a vent allowance and also have to have a reducer ring to stop a leaded petrol nozzle going in ! non of which it is ! why the hell didnt I read up on this before, so typical of mistakes Ive been making.

Can anyone tell me if its OK ?

I found an old thread from 2003 that says it doesnt need to be lockable and the reducer/flap thing can be got around by bodging something off a Rover and breather vent thing I couldnt find a definate 'how to' thread on.

Help !

If I remember correctly, it only needs to have the restriciton for leaded nozzle if the car has a catalytic converter on it.
If it does you can get inserts to put in it, you can get these from companys that supply conversion parts for imports.

The fuel cap will also have to be lockable, even if its in a locked compartment. Mine failed on that one
