evo3500 - 24/5/05 at 09:26 PM

help took mk gt1 for mot test today.
It passed yippee !
Downside SVA next week 31st may.
Question please at mot car wouldnt go into brake tester as front of car grounds out so tested with brake force meter in car and driven. How or what effect will this have on my sva ? I have a balance bar fitted. will they have to test it in the same way with it not being able to go into brake rollers,or will this exempt the car from anything ?

check out my photo archive updated today after the mot.

Regards Simon.

Looking good, one thing that has always puzzled me, what do they put down in the space for the car Reg number on the MOT form as obviously the car doasen't have one yet!!

They can issue a MOT certificate on the Chassis number of the car,
Although some testers do need this explained to them!.

I had my car inspected by by local vehicle
registration office when car was nearly complete,so they will then allocate you a vin number prior to sva so stamp that in the chassis and you can take it for mot prior to sva so no waiting around to register it once yoy have the mac certificate,so on the mot doc they insert the vin number and the local vrlo will alter it and add the reg number to the mot when they assign you youre reg number,so now you know.

Simon - I can only speak from Beverley Testing Centre experiece. The answer to the braking question is 'yes'. They drop the front and rear respectively into rollers and test braking force applied. They test efficiency (I suspect) by placing the pressure pad on the pedal when this reaches a certain level they then read of force from the logging station.

The rollers at Beverley are quite deep - thinking about the GT1 I'm unsure as to whether it will go in. Maybe you could jack up your car for SVA purposes if you foresee it being a problem. MK Sportcars/MK Engineering may be able to help on this front? Jon Ison has one SVA'd but unsure as to where it was done. Maybe dropping him a u2u may shed some light on it.

Its being tested at chadderton/manchester but im pretty sure it wont go into the rollers.so it should be interesting to see what happens as if they cant check it because they dont have the equipment to i think it exempts it from test other than test driving and checking the brakes work, but im not sure. Ill keep you posted

Derby tested a Westy with the floor mounted meter thing because it had LSD when I was there, it's a while back now. They tested the handbrake on a gradient as well. I would think the speedo would be the bit they would struggle with as they test that on rollers as well.
