Right guys,
SVA on Monday and car is ready (apart from more polishing!!).
I think I have got most things sorted to make SVA man happy but I wonder if some of you could go into my photo archive and look at the pics in the
SVAReady folder and see if you can see anything I have missed!
I would be really grateful if a few of you could do this for me, it would be very much appreciated!
thanks,
Rich.
Nice looking car mate.
I think the rear reflectors have to conform to the 400mm rule from the side of the vehicle. BUT I'm not 100% on that so hopefully your right.
Someone will correct me i hope.
Like i said nice car.
I get my chassis steel next week.
You're right mate, the actual lense is within 400mm, it's close and if he picks it up I have some other reflectors that I can stick on.
Rich.
Looks a very good effort to me
A couple of small points:
The rear upper seatbelt mounting loops probably need the edges protecting as well as the nut cover
I can't just see if you have covered the top spring seats like the bottom ones they will probably need doing.
Also I had the SVA man check the radius of the fibreglass side panels at the 'door' edge and up the curved bit next to the wheel arch. (the
outer edge where you have your hockey stick trim) It needs to be a 2.5mm radius - mine wasn't and I had to sit there with a file and smooth it
off!! I don't know if the indy panels have changed since mine were made, but worth checking.
Good luck
Mark
Cheers Mookaloid, a couple of good points, was thinking about the seatbelt mounts so will do them anyway.
I haven't covered the top spring plate on the shocks, me and Bob were looking at it last weekend and thought it should be ok but have got some
covers just in case he mentions it.
Interesting point about the side panels, I had wondered about this but will get the radius guage out and check.
thanks,
Rich.
Looking good Rich
Just a couple of things, 1, the reflectors as already mentioned,
2, Main concern, your wing mirrors, Mitcham are pretty strict, as to the '180 deg vision'. He puts cones out and sits in the car to ensure
he can see the cones ok, and everything inbetween.
Put some suitable objects in a straight line 10ft (approx) from your car and check your vision!
Fozzie
do you mean 10ft directly behind the car fozzie?
Checked the side panels and I reckon they are 2mm radius so I had better take a file or is it worth doing them tommorrow?
Anyone else had Indy side panels checked at Mitcham? Bob, Donut??
Rich.
certantly loking good, good luck for monday, hope to see you on the road when i return from my jolly to eastern europe
thanks John, have fun in sunny europe
What time are you at mitcham Rich ? might be able to pop along with some sva friendly bits if needed, no mirrors though , just lots of the rubber
trim bits, that and a tool box if needed !!
Jason
Mate that would be brill, am taking the whole garage just in case but could really do with some moral support and someone who's also building.
My Dad's coming but obviously he hasn't been that involved in the build.
Bob gave me the 'SVA box' but can never have too many 'just in case' bits!!
I am there in the morning at 8am, bit early but if you are around then It would be great.
Rich.

You have u2u soon

Hi Rich
That's one smart car you have there. Only thing I can see which may be an issue, while looking at the indicator stalks, is the headlamp mounting
bolts/nuts. I think the testers sphere may pick up the edges on them
FWIW
All the best
Pete
P.S. mine is due 29th so I'm building up to the nail-biting bit that you are presumably experiencing now....
Hi chris,
whats the best way to put the wadding in?
rich.
I had convinced myself your test was today! Oh well
Looking at the pics the only thing I wondered about was wether you need full insulation on BOTH battery terminals?
Cheers
was that your email earlier colin?
Rich
Re the side panels, they did put the radius gauge on but didnt seem to be bothered by it.
Maybe it was just close, should be ok
If you do get a fail 1st time its better to be a few radius edges like my fail than anything else, good luck for the day send us a text after with the
result as i'll be at work.
Did I read somewhere that the bottom edge of the guard has to be as a minimum in line with the centre of the wheel and the top vertically in line with wheel rim?
sorry how rude of me,nice clean build, hope mine comes out as good, good luck!
