SVA Failure
shortie - 18/7/05 at 02:05 PM

Well had the SVA today and all in all quite pleased with the rseult even if it did fail.

Was perfect on everything apart from noise

104.8db so I need to get it down to 101, am going to put a baffle in and have changed the can to a 907 can that Deckman VERY kindly leant me.

Back again at 8am in the morning so fingers crossed!

Many many thanks to Donut, Deckman and GasGasGas for coming along and helping.

Rich.

Bad luck on the failure but only one fail point is a highly impressive result! Hope you get it all sorted in plenty of time, good luck for the retest

Well Rich, I think you did brilliantly!
The only 'downside' was the noise, but your actual build passed! that in itself is most exellent!...well done!
IIRC Jasper had the same problem with his bec at Mitcham.
Fingers crossed for the noise levels in t'morning!

you were right Chris!!

DO you think I should use the 907 can with a baffle or stick with the MK one with baffle for the test?

Rich.

ReMan - 18/7/05 at 02:35 PM

Nice one.
I'd consider that an excellent result.
Not having to strip the body off or rewire it again has got to be good!
Cheers

Sweet Jesus! Hope it's from a Goldwing!

Shortie,
Well done on such a 'good' failure- should be easy to sort out.
Hope we'll see you and it up at Newlands a bit now!

Cheers,
James

Hi Rich,

My car also failed initially on noise level, I managed to borrow a dB meter to set it up before the retest. One thing I did discover was that the exit direction of the exhaust tailpipe made a LOT of difference to the noise level as perceived by the meter. Worst case was pointing straight down onto the road, best, surprisingly enough, was pointing straight out sideways towards the meter. I managed to loose 2-3 dB this way.
Not sure if the 907 cans allow you swivel the outlet, if they do it's something else you can try if you get a problem tomorrow. Good luck anyway.

shortie - 18/7/05 at 04:09 PM

Well it was pointing straight out and with a baffle I got it down to between 86-98db.

After speaking to MAC1 I have now pointed it more or less straight down but reading the last post who knows!!

Well we will find out tommorrow I guess!

Rich.

P.S. Thinking about it I could point it under the car I guess!

Test it at both angles, see what's best on your meter

getting a bit late now though!!

Think I will just point it out sideways and slightly down and hope for the best.

Rich.

Deckman001 - 18/7/05 at 05:25 PM

How about we get there a bit early and try it then ?

Jason
