Brake fluid level

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but just to check....

Do you have to have a brake fluid level warning to pass SVA?

Yes, the type with a push button on it !!

I wired in a separate little switch , that you push to test the warning light ,is that not still allowed?

Petemate - 20/7/05 at 09:01 PM

That's fine. The usual method is for the warning light to be activated by the handbrake via a switch, but a push button is OK. Whatever turns you on... (sorry for the pun....)

That can make your eyes water!

It doesn't have to have a button on it. There needs to be a method of testing the warning light (as was said, most use the handbrake, that's what I'm doing and what 99% of road cars do)

EEK, sorry if my post was misleading, you do need a fluid level warning !! but a separate switch or button will suffice to test the circuit, as said , the normal test is via the handbrake/ or a button on the reservoir

That's what I thought. What are people using for reservoirs then?

I'd like to use something like this...

..but obviously it has no level switch. I have a Luego twin output jobbie but I'm not too happy with the weight of the feed tube on the plastic fittings.

Europa Spares do a dual feed SVA compliant res but its a bit pricey.

chris, there are some lids in the barn, plastic box near the door,ps any joy with the washing machine?

ChrisW - 25/7/05 at 07:10 PM

Barn has all been cleared up since the stuff was by the door! I take it they are standard lids though - will they fit the single reservoirs?
