I have got a letter from DVLA that says I can get my chassis number stamped at a local garage. I went to my local, then I went to my local garage and
they couldn't find theirs and still can't (a week on) I went round a few other garages in town and nobody had any :S
How much is it to buy a set? Are they costly? All i want to do is take a set round for the local garage as they'll do it if they have the stamps

It's actually harder to stamp the chassis than it sounds. I tried it but gave up in the end.
I actually engraved mine, you can get cheap engraving tools, woolworths used to do them. Not much money and they come with a template. Worked a
treat and was fine for SVA and DVLA.
HTH,
Rich.
I just bought a set of stamps from tooled-up.co.uk
numbers and letters from Sealey for about £15 delivered. I'll have a crack at stamping the chassis but from what everyone says, its tough?!
At least I can stamp a number into a plate myself for the Vin plate....
I used the set from Car Builder Solutions as above and had no problems.

It is easy to stamp the chassis. Mine is stainless, and I even managed that. See my recent post & pics under SVA, VIN numbers. On my round chassis
I had to take two goes with each stamp, but it was easy though needs a steady hand...

I stamped mine onto an aluminium plate then pop rivited it on. OK with SVA and Registration at DVLA.
I stamped a strip of 20g steel and tacked it on, also the panel where it folds over the rail under the bonnet.
Cheers for the replies! Just ordered a set
Cant be too hard to stamp the chassis. Just hit it harder that u would ali. I intend on stamping mine in 2 places. One visable in the bonnet area and one hidden so the theiving gits dont know where it is!!
I originally tried to stamp my chassis. Cheap stamps are next to useless, I had to hit them so hard I put a dent in the chassis rail. Eventually went
to a trophy engravers, he made me 2 plates from brass for a tenner.
