
I have just got my sierra collected and got it up the M1 with remarkably no problems, I was flanked by a mate and pre armed with water and oil! What
I'm not sure about now is what do I do as far as the correct way or order to do the documents, obviously the previous owner has sent her side off
and I will recieve a new V5 registered to me, do I have to sorn it and then declare it as scrapped or just sorn it?
Or if this is the complete wrong way could you please point me in the right direction
I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times but I did try and search for scrap and v5 and nothing showed, but that's me probably using
crap keywords to search on, anyway your help would be appreciated.
BTW nearly forgot to mention what a great site this is, fantastic resource and I've got a sneaking feeling I will be spending quite a bit of time

I declared mine SORN straight away when i recieved the paperwork from the previous owner, then a couple of months later when I was done with it I rang
DVLA and asked how to scrap it and they told me which part of the form to fill in etc

SORN it as soon as possible or you will get fined.
I have been advised (by the DVLA local office) to leave mine on SORN - even though it has been scrapped - until ready to sort the paperwork on the new
build, whenever that might be
Yeah, Sorn it but don't scrap it. Then if you decide to fit a different engine you can do it to the donor and send the V5 to DVLA to get it updated. Remains a single donor build.
sorn it, cut all identifying tags from it, keep the paper work and dispose of the lump of metal. You can then do as before without a car cluttering up
your drive.

As above but like said don't scrap it. You can scrap the car. Just don't declare it scrapped to the DVLA.
When you come to register you can avoid a Q plate by using two of the components from the major parts of the donor car.
I.E. even if you change your mind about engines at a later stage, put that one and the gearbox into your car for SVA and registration.
