Just a thought - are these 'Angel Eyes' kits ok as an SVA approved sidelight?
Hi Razman,
i wouldnt think so, as there are no E markings on them,

I seem to recall that if a light has no E marking it can still pass SVA if the light is 'acceptable' or equivalent to an E marked light.
i'm nearly sure the Ring kit is e marked, but imho, they should stay on the front of a BMW.

Thanks for the link Nick - much appreciated.
Your lights don't have to be E marked as your SVA is the type approval for them. They just have to be comparable to E marked i.e same
charachteristics It can help the SVA inspector approve them but it's not a requirement.

I see - well, to take it one stage further then ..... I would like to 'angel eye' my indicators by having a ring of white led's
surrounding the amber led's of the indicators. The only problem I can forsee is that the two lights are essentially combined in one
'lense' which might confuse Mr SVA. If necessary I can switch off the sidelight when the indicator is flashing (and vice versa) but that
might confuse him even further.
This setup is often used on the rear lights of new Mercedes, BMW's etc but I have not seen it on front lights .... yet.
Has anyone got any ideas about this?
No idea about angel eye's indicators, but the repository for all the worlds stuff, ebay have some that fit 7" bowls.

They would be absolutely perfect ......... if my indicators were 7" jobbies
Sadly however, they are only a mere 94mm
I just thought I would clarify the legal situation regarding angel eye side lights. I emailed Ring (the manufacturer) and they say it is a big no-no
as they are not E marked.
I have a feeling that it is not quite that simple but I will err on the side of caution ..... at least until after the SVA test
